How to Increase Vertical For Volleyball

Volleyball is a sport unlike any other and it requires you to be able to jump and be very explosive in many movements. The best thing you can do to guarantee a spot on any volleyball team is to be able to jump higher than other people. This is not impossible even if you can’t jump high right now. If you understand the human body and how it works you will realize that jumping is just like any other skill you can improve. You can increase vertical leap for volleyball just as easily as you can train your body to pass well or set the volleyball well.

To increase your vertical you have to train specifically for that, it won’t happen by just playing a lot of volleyball. You need to follow a jump program that is well designed and chances are that if you are in high school your coach does not have the expertise to increase your vertical jump to the potential that could be reached so it’s up to you to take matters into your own hands. In fact I would dare say that 99% of coaches don’t know the proper way to train for vertical jump increases.

So how do you go about increasing your vertical for volleyball? Easy, you work at it. Find out what muscles in your legs are the weakest and start with those. You can’t have 1 muscle way weaker than another. You need to do training with weights on separate days from training with jumping exercises known as plyometrics.
