Learn Skateboard Tricks

I have been skating for almost 15 years, and at times it can get a little frustrating when you keep doing the same moves over and over again. This is one of the reasons why you should always skate with other people, they will push you to try new moves, teach you moves you’d never done before, and provide you with the inspiration to keep going day after day. You should also try to vary the terrain that you skate on, move from street to ramp to bowl, and anything else that is flat and hard! again this will help you learn new moves, and try your old moves in new ways.

To start with here are a couple of basic ramp moves that every skater should know;

The frontside lipslide;

This might seem like a bit of a beginner move to some skaters, but it takes some guts to do the first time and is one of those moves that you can keep making bigger and better. Ride up the transition with as much speed as you can. Bend your knees and pop a frontside Ollie, land with your board on the coping, your front truck in the ramp, and your rear truck on the platform. slide your board frontside along the coping as far as it will go, when you begin to slow down lean forward and push down on the nose to make sure that the rear truck does not get stuck on the coping.

Ten Pin Bowling Tips and Techniques

You might be wondering what ten pin bowling is. In the US, it is simply referred to as “bowling”, but the term “ten pin bowling” is especially used in the UK so it would not be mixed with other bowling types like five pin bowling or lawn bowling for example. Bowling can be enjoyed by all ages especially when the bowler knows the basics and needed techniques and tips.

To start with, a bowler needs to be familiar with equipment, common terminologies and etiquette around the bowling alley. Ten bowling pins are used in bowling, each of around 3 pounds and 4 ounces and 3 pounds and 10 ounces. The bowling ball on the other hand can be made from rubber or plastic or a combination of materials. Most bowling balls in ten pin bowling have three holes – one for the middle finger, the ring finger, and the thumb. The bowler needs to choose his bowling ball with caution and make sure he is comfortable with handling it before going to his/her bowling game. Be aware that bowling balls do not weigh more than 16 pounds.

At times, it can be rather difficult to overcome the fear of running the gutter since once the ball is in the gutter, it does not hit any pins down. The important key in this case would be to focus on how to bowl and to make sure that you are physically prepared as well (you can do so by warming up and stretching). If you had one of the bowling balls in the gutter, simply focus and get the negative thoughts out of your head so you would not get distracted.

Adventure Sports: Rock Climbing

Rock climbing is a sport, which involves climbing steep rocks. This sport originated in the nineteenth century in Saxony, Lake District of England. After Walter Parry Haskett Smith climbed Napes Needle alone for the first time, many people were attracted and it later converted to sports in England, in 1880s and by 1930s some two hundred climbing resorts opened in the Elbsandstein region. As the sport evolved grading system was introduced to analyze different levels of difficulties while climbing. Both the safety equipments and climbing techniques have been evolved with the passage of time.

Adventure Sports: Bungee Jumping

Bungee jumping is an adventurous sport where the participant jumps from a great height while he is connected to a large rubber rope. The jump can be made from the top of a tall building, bridge or crane. To bring in more adrenalin rush, jump can be made from a moving object like helicopter or a hot air balloon.

Bungee word was developed in 1930, which meant rubber eraser. The idea originated from dwellers of the Pentecost Island, who used to tie vines to their ankles and jumped from tall wooden platforms. The vine was substituted by elastic cord. Members of the Dangerous Sports club made the first official bungee jumping on April 1, 1979 from the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol. Initially they were arrested, but later on they appeared on television and jumped from many places including hot air balloon and mobile cranes, in 1982.

Art Sports: Wrestling

Wrestling is a sport involving two competitors competing to show their physical strength. This form of martial arts is as old as the mountains. Military are given training in wrestling as a part of self-defense systems. Folk people, who used lethal weapons as part of ritual fighting, also practiced it. Professional wrestling uses techniques like holding, clinching, leverage and locking.

History of Baseball

Baseball is one of the popular sports played all over America. It is the national sports of the United States of America.  This sport involves two teams of nine members each. The game is played basically with the help of bat and ball. The pitcher hauls a hard leather covered ball towards the batter, an opponent, who hits it with a wooden cylindrical bat. While the opponent team tries to catch the ball, the batter has to run in counter clockwise direction covering four markers called bases. The match is divided into nine parts called innings. Both the teams ball and score runs in each inning. If a team gets three outs, it’s half-inning.

GENERAL TENNIS PSYCHOLOGY

Tennis psychology is nothing more than understanding the workings of your opponent’s mind, and gauging the effect of your own game on his mental viewpoint, and understanding the mental effects resulting from the various external causes on your own mind. You cannot be a successful psychologist of others without first understanding your own mental processes, you must study the effect on yourself of the same happening under different circumstances. You react differently in different moods and under different conditions. You must realize the effect on your game of the resulting irritation, pleasure, confusion, or whatever form your reaction takes. Does it increase your efficiency? If so, strive for it, but never give it to your opponent.

Does it deprive you of concentration? If so, either remove the cause, or if that is not possible strive to ignore it.

Once you have judged accurately your own reaction to conditions, study your opponents, to decide their temperaments. Like temperaments react similarly, and you may judge men of your own type by yourself. Opposite temperaments you must seek to compare with people whose reactions you know.

A person who can control his own mental processes stands an excellent chance of reading those of another, for the human mind works along definite lines of thought, and can be studied. One can only control one’s, mental processes after carefully studying them.

A steady phlegmatic baseline player is seldom a keen thinker. If he was he would not adhere to the baseline.

Winter Sports – Skiing

Skiing is a sport wherein the skiers glide over snow with the help of skis made out of wood planks or fiberglass strapped on the feet. Over the period of years have been many alterations to the original sports like the cross-country variant and downhill variant. The alterations are Alpine Skiing, Telemark Skiing, and Nordic Skiing. Skiing is also used by the military as a means of transportation and training in ski warfare.

Originally skiing was used as a means of transportation in an ice packed area. Sondre Norheim, from Norway was the father of modern skiing as he developed slalom form of skiing in the 19th century. His ideas were later worked on and Telemark Skiing was developed in 1970s. Mathias Zdarsky from Austria invented the Alpine or downhill skiing. He developed the firmer bindings to help skiers to better anchor their feet. Some time after that, Hannes Schneider of Austria invented the Arlberg technique, according to which the body is rotated to steer the skis.

Water Sports – Surfing

Surfing is a kind of water sports where the surfer is carried along by a breaking wave towards the shore. Apart from surfboards body boards, kneeboards, surf skis and kayaks can be also used to surf. Various sports involving surfing are sea kayaking, paddle boarding, kite surfing and windsurfing. The first two do not require waves and winds, while the other two does. Surfing has become more of a profession by turning into a multi-billion dollar industry.

THE PSYCHOLOGY OF MATCH PLAY IN TENNIS

The first and most important point in match play is to know how to lose. Lose cheerfully, generously, and like a sportsman. This is the first great law of tennis, and the second is like unto it to win modestly, cheerfully, generously, and like a sportsman.

The object of match play is to win, but no credit goes to a man who does not win fairly and squarely. A victory is a defeat if it is other than fair. Yet again I say to win is the object, and to do so, one should play to the last ounce of his strength, the last gasp of his breath, and the last scrap of his nerve. If you do so and lose, the better man won. If you do not, you have robbed your opponent of his right of beating your best. Be fair to both him and yourself.

“The Play’s the thing,” and in match play a good defeat is far more creditable than a hollow victory. Play tennis for the game’s sake. Play it for the men you meet, the friends you make, and the pleasure you may give to the public by the hard working yet sporting game that is owed them by their presence at the match.
